Background and Areas of Focus

Julia Blaser Mah, MA, RCC

Hi there and welcome. I’m Julia and I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor (RCC) with the British Columbia Association of Clinical Counsellors (BCACC). My educational background includes a Bachelor of Arts degree from Trinity Western University, and a Master of Arts degree in Counselling Psychology from the Adler School of Professional Psychology.

As a clinical counsellor I work with adult individuals of all ages from all walks of life. I work with my clients from a Person Centered, Strength Based, Solution Focused, and Cognitive Behavioural (CBT) perspective. Additionally, my graduate thesis research project focused on the integration and involvement of Spiritual and Religious beliefs, practices, and relationships in coping with stress and difficulties, and as therapist I offer an open invitation for my clients to bring to therapy and explore whatever they hold sacred.

I also have a background in career counselling from my work in a college counselling department, have worked with loved ones of individuals struggling with addiction, and have experience in addictions counselling in both the individual and group format from my work in an addictions treatment center and a community health clinic.

I specialize in working with adult women and men looking to build their self-esteem and understand, deal with, and resolve that which is preventing them from feeling the way they want to feel and living the way they want to live.

Other araes I work with are anxiety and/or depression, grief and loss, feeling lonely or disconnected, those facing career or life transitions and decisions, and those looking to improve their their communication skills, or their boundary setting abilities.
