I am an addictions and mental health specialist also known as a Concurrent Disorders Counselor, with over a decade of experience within this field.  In this time I have worked with people from all walks of life from celebrities and royalty to those who find themselves homeless. I help my clients with a variety of issues ranging from life coaching, assertive communication, & goal setting all the way through to addiction and mental health problems.  My primary area of expertise is in Brief Clinical Interventions, for a range of issues such as:

  • Alcohol Addiction/Abuse
  • Drug Addiction/Abuse
  • Gambling Addiction/Abuse
  • Sex Addiction
  • Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder
  • Grief/Loss

  • Complex grief and loss
  • Childhood Sexual Abuse
  • Trauma Counseling
  • Bipolar symptom management
  • Borderline Personality Disorder
  • Depression & Anxiety
  • Smoking Cessation

My educational background includes a Bachelor of Science in psychology, and two Masters of Science also in Psychology all from the UK, where I was born and raised.  My clinical work is Person Centered, Solution Focused, and CBT orientated.  This means that I meet you where you are at: you remain at the center of any work we do, and we go at the pace that you set.

My focus of work is primarily split into the following three areas:

Interventionist:  Here I often work with family members in helping a loved one to enter into treatment for addiction issues despite there often being considerable resistance from the person themselves.  I have a successful track record in this area.  Here my role often involves working with both the family and the person themselves before, during and after treatment to plan for sobriety and develop a workable relapse prevention plan

Concurrent Disorders Counseling:  Here I work with the client to understand the role that mental health plays in addiction and vice versa.  I work with the client using established Health Belief Models and Cognitive Behavioural Models to learn new adaptive healthier coping behaviours, helping them to understand their addiction in relation to past traumas and current coping mechanisms.

Workshops & Training:  I provide a range of bespoke ‘tailored for you’ workshops to both clients and professionals.  Clients can either request training on specific skills they would like to improve on or learn about, or choose from an established portfolio: Anger Management; Boundaries; Effective Communication; Smoking Cessation; Relapse Prevention; Eliminating ‘Drama’ from your life; Understanding Addiction
