Have you ever felt like you missed the day in school where they were teaching people how be awesome at life? Where they taught how to handle whatever life had for you with grace and ease? Or maybe you felt like you missed the day in school where they were teaching people how to be comfortable and confident with themselves no matter what. I’m guessing it sometimes feels like everyone else has it all figured out, and you’re left on the sidelines wondering how you missed out. Have you ever felt emotionally out of sorts for one reason or another and then told yourself that you’re pathetic, a loser or weak for feeling down, depleted or depressed? You criticize yourself or you belittle yourself for struggling – kicking yourself while you’re down, if you will. Many of us are really hard on ourselves if we’re not always feeling happy, optimistic, grateful, and positive all the time. We shame ourselves and tell ourselves we’re no good if our emotions are not always pretty and in control. And it’s because we think that we are supposed to be perfect and pulled together all the time, when in fact, we are not; and in reality, no one is.
