Who do you want to become? How do you want to transform yourself? Who do you need to be? These are just a few of the messages that sound positive on the outside, but in reality are damaging our self esteem, our self confidence, and our sense of self worth.

And do you know why this is?

It’s because of their implied message of shame. What they are saying is who you are now is not good enough. That you can’t be yourself and feel good about it. That how to build self confidence is by trying to become someone else – someone you are not. The other thing, perhaps one of the more dangerous things about these messages, is that they are often right at the root of our mental health struggles with anxiety and depression. And this is because we all have this fear deep down inside that who we are is not good enough. That if we share who we really are, if we make ourselves vulnerable, authentic and real, we will be rejected and ridiculed.

This message that you need to become someone else in order to be worthy confirms this deep down fear. But there are things you can do to change this one around. Questions to ask yourself and perspectives to change, and in this video we go through exactly what those are.
